Russell G. Buys

Mr. Russell Gordon Buys, age 95, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on December 27, 1922 to William & Emma (West) Buys, one of nine children. Mr. Buys served his country in the US Army in G. Company 126th Infantry 32nd Division during World War II. He married the former Doris Hopkins and after her passing in 1984 he met and married Elaine Love. Mr. Buys was a Laketon Township Trustee for 35 years, worked for Habitat for Humanity for several years and retired from Home Construction after 35 years. Russ was a life member of the Don Rea Post #8846 and past President of the Local 32nd Division Red Arrow Club and past President of the National Red Arrow Association. He enjoyed all sports, especially hunting and fishing with his brothers. SURVIVORS Wife, Elaine; children, Muriel Kops Wiser, Connie (Jim) Panozzo, Russell (Di) Buys; stepsons, Ted (Cheryl) Love, Gordon (Pamela) Love, Mark (Kathy) Love; grandchildren, Michelle (Rex) VanderLinde, Bill (Shelley) Kops, Scott (Amy) Panozzo, Kelly (Jon) Simerick, Stacy West, Eric Buys, Shannon (Michael) Portillo, Haley & Chelsey Love, Jenny & Ian Gram, Brandon & Saren Love, Megan Love, Heather Love; great grandchildren, Jennifer VanderLinde, Evan & Ashley Kops, Grant & Penelope Panozzo, Owen & Brennan Simerick, Athena & Jazmin West, Bailey & Camden Price; siblings, Betty Kraai & Leonard Buys; many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris; son-in-law, Tom Wiser; sister, Irene Smith; brothers, Charles, Norman, William, Phillip & George. SERVICE Friday, March 30, 2018, 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church with Rev.
