Russell G. Ames

Mr. Russell Gordon Ames , age 89, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on March 21, 1928 to Rex & Margaret (Wessel) Ames and married the former Arlene Spaulding on October 14, 1949. Mr. Ames served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been employed as a machinist, supervisor and lastly, a research engineer at Sealed Power for 41 years until retiring in June of 1985. Russell was a lifetime member of the Fox Lake Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an avid reader, gun collector and was also very good at nurturing the grand babies. SURVIVORS Children, Frances (Dan) Thielbar of Norton Shores, Rex (Cecilia) Ames of New Era, Joan (Ron) Daugherty of Muskegon, Karl Ames of Chatham, Sandra (Frank) Sirianni of Norton Shores, Susan Hovey of Arizona; grandchildren, Rex Ames Jr., Kelly (Marc) Venne, Stephanie (Todd) Bowen, Jennifer (Adam) Unwin, Paul Ames, Chet (Carrie) Ames, Joseph Sirianni, Alex Sirianni; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews & cousins; special nephew, Bruce (Dawna) Ames. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; sister, Berneice Bailey; brothers, Jack & Ralph Ames. SERVICE Monday, January 22, 2018, Noon with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Rev. Scott VanArendonk officiating. Interment in Norton Cemetery.
