Ruby Carrol Hildreth, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories within her community. Born on January 4, 1934, in Muskegon, MI, she was the daughter of Reuben and Sallie (Bailey) Hildreth. Ruby, a dedicated educator, touched the lives of countless students during her more than 30-year career as a 4th-grade teacher at Reeths Puffer Schools. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom as she was an active member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel and the West Michigan MEA-Retired.

A proud alumna of Muskegon High School, Ruby furthered her education at Muskegon Community College and Western Michigan University, ultimately earning her bachelor's and master's degrees in Teaching. Retirement did not slow Ruby down; she remained vibrant and engaged in pursuits she loved, such as bowling, golf, and taking cruises. She was also known for her adventurous spirit, making visits to local casinos a fun component of her life. Her warm and welcoming nature was evident in her service as a volunteer guide at the Hackley-Hume home historical site.

Ruby's happiest moments were spent at her beloved cottage on Wolf Lake near Baldwin, where she formed lasting friendships and created beautiful memories. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Stauffer; nephews, Wayne Lowden and John Stauffer; niece, Muriel Carlson; and several great nieces and nephews. She is warmly remembered by friends and family for her kind heart and generous spirit. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Esther (Ellis) Pender, Alice (Eugene) Lowden, and brother Albert "Buddy" Hildreth.
