Roy Symons

Mr. Roy A. Symons, age 91, went to his heavenly rest Saturday morning July 7, 2007. He was born November 17, 1915 in Trimountain, MI to Benjamin and Janie (Terrell) Symons and the family moved to Muskegon Heights in 1923. He attended Muskegon Heights Schools. Roy had a very busy life. As a teenager he delivered for Reeds Market on his bicycle. As a young man he worked for Bluhm Brothers Market for 15 years. He then had his own I.G.A. Market for 15 years. He closed it in 1965 and worked for Dresser Industries for 15 years before retiring in 1981. He enjoyed time spent at his cabin in the U.P. On April 30, 1966 he married the former Atala I. Pendell in Muskegon and she survives him along with 2 children, Karen (David) Rice, Kenneth Symons; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces, Carole Bryant, Delores (Steve) Gulis; and a nephew, Vern Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry Symons and a sister, Gladys Williams. In accordance with his wishes there will be no visitation or services. Burial will take place in Norton Cemetery.
