CLARK , MRS. ROSA S. Grand Haven Rosa S. Clark, 98, of Grand Haven, died August 21, 2005 at her home. She was born Aug. 18, 1907 in Grand Haven to Frank & Rosa Zwygart Sonrel and married Lewis Clark in June 1940 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death in Oct. 1988. She lived her entire life on her parents farm on Lakeshore Dr. Mrs. Clark received her grade school education at nearby one room Rosy Mound School where she later taught and was a school board member before its annexation to the Grand Haven system. She was instrumental in obtaining a favorable annexation vote. She graduated from Grand Haven High in 1925 and attended what are now Northern State and Ferris State Universities and earned a BA from Western State University and a MA from University of Michigan. After leaving Rosy Mound she taught 25 years at Ferry School resigning to start the grade school libraries. When the libraries expanded. Mrs. Clark catalogued the grade school books until her retirement in 1968. She was a life member of the Alumni Assoc. of the U of M and the local chapter Order of Eastern Star where she held office for most of her membership; a charter member & officer of the now Ottawa County School Employees Credit Union; member of AARP and MARSP; the Tri-Cities Historical Society; the Board of Appeals of Grand Haven Twp. and other township committees; secretary of Area Con-Con Committee when the Michigan Constitution was revised in 1954. She was an avid reader and gardener sharing her produce with family, friends and churches. She and her husband traveled widely. SURVIVORS A sister Elizabeth Betty Sonrel of Grand Haven; 2 nieces, Suzanne Scholl and Dawn Williams; a grand niece, Julie McCulfor; 2 great grand nieces and 5 great grand nephews. Mrs. Cark was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mrs. R.C. Clara Dunn and Mrs. C.D. Martha Blanchard; 3 brothers, Julien, Francis Bob and Robert Sonrel. SERVICE 11:30 AM, Friday, Aug. 26, 2005 at Clock Funeral Home. Interment at Lakeshore Cemetery. MEMORIALS: The Salvation Army or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
