Root, Mary G.

Mrs. Mary G. Root, age 86, passed away early Saturday morning, October 14, 2006 in Muskegon. She was born March 10, 1920 in Muskegon and was a life resident. She had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mrs. Root enjoyed working on genealogies, gardening, lighthouses, and the beach. The former Mary Schelhas, she married Bert A. Root on September 23, 1939, and he preceded her in death on August 29, 1994. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Gerald (Susan) Root, Randy (Kathy) Root, Peggy (Richard) Williams, Thomas Root all of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert (Ann) Schelhas of Muskegon; 3 sisters, Beatrice Plichta of Muskegon, Evelyn Raynor of Muskegon, Betty Donnelly of Las Vegas. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Blaszak. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church, Marian Chapel, with the Rev. Fr. Thomas G. Simons presiding. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. VISITATION at The Walburn Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565 will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday.
