On Thursday, July 7, 2023, Roosevelt Day Sr. quietly transitioned into eternity. He was born on June 15, 1944 in Yazoo, Mississippi to the union of David "Bob" Day and Annie Lee Brooks Day. After relocating to Muskegon, Michigan in 1954, Roosevelt joined Great Harvest Missionary Baptist Church and attended Muskegon Heights Public School. He played and thoroughly enjoyed basketball while attending high school. On August 2, 1965, Roosevelt Day Sr. married Mary Ann Williams. To their union, three sons and one daughter were born. Roosevelt also fathered three additional sons and one daughter.
Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memories; his wife, Mary Ann Day; sons, Roosevelt Day Jr. of Muskegon, Carlton Reid of Muskegon, Samuel Day of Muskegon, Anthony Reid of Muskegon, and Marvin Reid of Jackson, Tennessee; daughter, Cheryl Day of Muskegon; sisters, Mary Scott and Nora Taylor; special friend, Mary Louise Reid; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Roosevelt is preceded in death by his parents David "Bob" Day and Annie Lee; brothers, David, Robert, Charles, Otha, and Edward; sisters, Thelma, Rose Lee, Annie Bell, Elizabeth Owens, and Pauline Seals; and children, Sharon Gilan and Darryl Day.
