Ronald Lee Wigren, age 89, peacefully departed this life on January 20, 2026. Born on September 26, 1936, in Ludington, MI, he was the beloved son of Justus and Marie (Tyler) Wigren. Ron proudly graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1955. On March 31, 1956, he married Nancy Scott at Samuel Lutheran Church, and together they built a life full of love, faith, and family.
Throughout his career, Ron demonstrated a remarkable work ethic, beginning his journey in manufacturing as a Machine Operator at Michigan Springs, where he eventually rose to the position of plant manager. With a spirit of resilience, he took on various construction jobs during layoffs to support his family. His early summers spent on his grandmother's farm instilled in him a profound appreciation for nature and hard work.
Ron cherished family adventures, from camping and biking to coaching little league football. His love for the outdoors was rivaled only by his passion for gardening; he possessed an extraordinary talent for making anything blossom. His cherished memories include hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren, moments that will remain forever in their hearts. A talented woodworker he also produced numerous birdhouses and other arts and crafts projects for family and friends.
A dedicated member of Samuel Lutheran Church for many years he served on various committees and helped with communion. Ron later transitioned to Trinity Lutheran Church, where he continued to nurture his faith and serve. Known for his no-nonsense leadership style, he inspired his family and community with lessons of responsibility and integrity, always reminding of the importance of "do the next right thing" and "don't be sorry, be responsible".
Ron is survived by his loving children: son James (Judy) Wigren, daughters Rhonda (Paul) Derks and Connie (Paul) Harig; a daughter-in-law Angela Wigren; 11 grandchildren: Justin (Maria) Derks, Jerad (Michelle) Derks, Emily (Scott) McCambridge, Ryan (Paige) Wigren, Tessa (Matt) Siefert, Amanda (Andy) Potts, Nicole (Jason) Osborn, Jennifer (Benji) Huback, JeriAnn (Jacob) Bateson, Andrew (Megan) Harig, and Kristine (Jeremy) Brower; and 22 great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy. He is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful furry companion, Tipper 2. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy in 2007, son Jerry Wigren, and sister Donna Hall.
A memorial service to celebrate Ron's extraordinary life will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Paul Appold officiating.
