Ronald Lee Velik

Ronald died Friday, August 29, 2008 after a long battle with cancer. Ron was born in Grand Haven, July 25, 1953 to Mike & Marjorie (Zimmerman) Velik. He graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1971. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1972 and had active duty training in Fort Polk, LA. Ron was employed at Miller Chevrolet (Gage motor Mall), Tuffy Auto Service in Grand Haven, & Lemmen Grand Chevy in Coopersville as a Service Technician. Ron was the owner and operator of Ron's Automotive Repair in Fruitport and was named 2004's Fruitport Small Business Man of the Year. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with his son, Cody and activities with Ravenna #1054 Boy Scout Troop. He also enjoyed going to Cody's band concerts in Ravenna School. He will be missed by all. SURVIVORS Son, Cody Lee Velik of Muskegon; mother, Marjorie Velik of Grand Haven; brother, Terry (Beverly) Velik; sisters, Judy (Eugene) Kubicki of Grand Haven, Barbara (Douglas) Suber of Nunica; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Mike Velik in 1997 of Grand Haven & brother-in-law, David Kieft Sr. of Spring Lake. SERVICE Saturday, September 6, 2008, 11:00 AM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ with Rev. John Carpenter officiating.
