Ronald L. Newsted NEWSTED, MR. RONALD L. Husband of Shirley Muskegon Mr. Ronald L. Newsted, age 71, passed away after many years valiantly battling many medical problems Sunday, January 15, 2006 in Ozark, AL on his way to Florida with his wife and daughter. Mr. Newsted was born March 4, 1934 to Lloyd and Delma (Feasil) Newsted in Mears, MI. On June 28, 1958 he married the former Shirley Verplank. Ron was employed as a manager of Sylvan Beach Resort in Whitehall until his retirement. He enjoyed camping, bowling and sports, especially Michigan State and Lions football. Ron is SURVIVED by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Laurie L. Newsted of Twin Lake; granddaughter, Megan Joy Newsted of Kalamazoo; brother, Robert Newsted of Jupiter Inlet Colony, FL and many very close and special family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Newsted in 1987, his parents Lloyd and Delma, and his in-laws, Neil and Isabel Verplank. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue (231) 726-5210 with Pastor Ron Rands, Resurrection Life Changing Ministries, officiating. Interment will be in Fruitland Township Cemetery. VISITATION will be Friday, 6-8 PM, and Saturday one hour prior to the service.
