Ronald Walter Morzfeld

Ronald "Ron" Walter Morzfeld, age 82, passed away June 16, 2023 surrounded by his family. Ron was born November 16, 1940 in Chicago, IL to the late Herbert and Mildred. He married the love of his life Sharon (Hartman) on February 23, 2002. He was a proud Marine and very committed to supporting Veteran's, especially in the Muskegon area.

Ron oversaw the USS LST 393 Museum ship, in Muskegon. The LST, is a 1st class tank landing ship that was built for the United States Navy during World War II. She is one of only two LSTs to survive in original configuration; 1,051 were built.

After the Marine Corp, he was a longshoreman, worked in sales and was a tile setter. Upon retirement he also volunteered his time at many different places. In the last few years of his life he worked part-time at Phoenix Crematory Services and was a vital part of their organization.

Ron also knew how to have fun. He and Sharon enjoyed "Fantasy Football", visiting all the Michigan lighthouses, the Red Wings, Detroit Lions, and dancing back in the day. So much so, that for his 80th birthday, he was planning to host a sock hop. That was canceled due to COVID-19. Ron's final wish was to enjoy that era of music, gather together and share stories and have a beverage on him, at his celebration of life get together.

He is survived by his wife Sharon, his sons John Morzfeld, Eric Morzfeld of Wisconsin, Step-son Gregory Berglund of Bay City, MI, Step-daughter Debra Berglund of Kenosha,WI, Half-brother David Gibison, Grandchildren Noah, Dylan, Jake,Chris Berglund, Nick Berglund, Kayla Goforth and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Donald Morzfeld, and Gaye Martin.

MEMORIAL

Celebration of his life will be on Saturday, July 22, 2023 between 1:00 - 3:00 PM where he will receive military honors at the Bob Hi Bowling Alley located at 2930 S Getty St, Norton Shores, MI 49444.
