Ronald (Ron) Joseph LaVasseur, Age 76, passed away peacefully at Harbor Hospice, Poppen House, surrounded by family, the morning of July 16th, 2025. Ron was born March 21st, 1949 to George and Alvida (Tootie) LaVasseur, in Muskegon, Michigan, where he lived the entirety of his life. Ron was preceded in death by his mother and father, and two siblings: Lois (Douglas) Gue and Lawrence (Skip) LaVasseur. He was survived by his wife Sally LaVasseur, Son Chad (Tammy) LaVasseur, sister-in-law Mona MCann, two grandchildren: Makayla (Wesley) Youngo and Levi LaVasseur, 2 great-grandchildren and many more family and friends. He met Sally, in 1968, they have been married for 53 years. He deferred from high school, was drafted into the Army and was sent to Vietnam from 1969-1971. Coming home from Vietnam, he ranked Specialist PFC Artillery Gunner and received several medals with an honorable discharge. After his time in the Army he went to night school and received his diploma and then worked in construction for several years before retiring from Clifford Buck due to an injury. He later went on to own and operate Arturo's Pizza and Subs for 30 years alongside his wife, Sally. In his free time, Ron was a great carpenter, loved riding his Harley, taking his Corvette out, enjoyed taking care of his beautiful lawn and garden, and spending time with family. He enjoyed making people laugh, gave the best hugs, told the best stories, and always had a piece of candy in one pocket and a dog treat in the other, but somehow never got them mixed up! His memory will live on through his family and friends for years to come.
