Roger L. Yonkman

Mr. Roger L. Yonkman, age 67, passed away early Friday morning, August 22, 2008 at his home. He was born September 8, 1940 in Muskegon to Albert C. and Mina M. (Veeneman) Yonkman and was a life resident of the Muskegon area. Roger was retired from L-3 Communications, was a U.S. Navy veteran, and belonged to the Don Rea VFW Post #8846. He was a member of Fifth Reformed Church. On March 4, 1972 Roger married Barbara J. Nas. SURVIVORS include his wife, Barbara; 6 children, Greg (Kim) Yonkman of DeWitt, MI, Carla (Doug) DeKuiper of E. Lansing, Cindy (Dave) Nakfoor of DeWitt, MI, Susan Yonkman of New York, NY, David (Becky) Yonkman of Washington, DC, and Brian (Sarah) Yonkman of Twin Lake; 7 grandchildren, Alex, Abigal, and Merideth Nakfoor, Bailey and Madison Yonkman, and Brian and Jack Yonkman; 2 brothers, Robert (Debbie) Yonkman of Montague and Alan (Nancy) Yonkman of Canton, MI; and 2 sisters, Judy Helmus of Denver, CO and Charlene Wolffis of Hudsonville. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM Monday at Fifth Reformed Church, 2330 Holton Rd., with Rev. Norman Swier officiating. Burial will take place at E. Dalton Oakhill Cemetery. VISITATION at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Monday.
