Roger Samuels

Mr. Roger W. Samuels, age 70, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at home. He was born November 14, 1936 in Shelby to the late Edward and Lucille (Schroeder) Samuels. Roger served our country in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years. In 1989, he married Lynn Ramey. He worked at Knoll Group. Roger was very active with the VFW Post #446, Commander 6 times (1991-1994 and 1996-1999), All State Commander twice, District 12 Commander 1994-1995, All State for District 12, County Council 1996-1997, State Judge Advocate 1997-2002, National Buddy Poppy Chairman, National aid-de-camp twice, Department Director, two State Honor Guards, and at the present time, still Post Commander of VFW #9441 in Shelby. Along with his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Norman. Surviving are his wife, Lynn; children: Courtney (Kirt) Sillman, Jeffery Samuels, Rebecca (Sam) Snell, Michael (Jodi) Ramey, and Alan Ramey; 7 grandchildren; sister, Wanda Jewith of Portage, MI; and brother, Gary Samuels of Muskegon. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, April 20th at 11:00 a.m. at VFW Post #446, 165 S. Getty St., Muskegon.
