Roger Dale Missimer, age 88, passed away in his home surrounded by family on Thursday, August 22, 2024. He was born in Manhattan, Kansas, on May 29, 1936, to Harold and Mary Gladys (Graham) Missimer. His family moved frequently during his youth, eventually settling in Reading, Michigan, a rural farming community located in the southern part of the state. It was there that Roger learned his strong work ethic working on the family farm. He was a member of the local Future Farmers of America and was chosen as a State Officer for the State of Michigan. Roger graduated Valedictorian from Reading High School and received a scholarship to Michigan State University where he earned his bachelor's degree. He would later earn an MBA from the University of Chicago. While at Michigan State, Roger was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. It was there that he met and fell in love with Jane Nolen, a Pi Phi from North Muskegon. Roger and Jane married on January 3, 1959, and were loving partners for 65 years. Following college, Roger went to work as a salesman for R.R. Donnelley and Sons Company, one of the world's largest printing companies. At the time of his retirement, Roger was a Senior Vice President of Sales. Roger was a member of Forest Park Covenant Church in Muskegon.

Roger was a gregarious man who loved a good party. He was known for his warm smile, entertaining stories and having a good joke to tell for every occasion. Roger was an avid golfer and following his retirement, he could often be found with a group of friends playing a round at White Lake Golf Club or Muskegon Country Club. He also enjoyed playing bridge and had a regular crew who met every Wednesday afternoon. Roger loved classic cars and owned many over the years. His pride and joy was a 1955 MG TF sports car that he restored himself. He drove it in many Whitehall 4th of July parades with grandson Cody riding shotgun. Roger loved his six grandchildren and he and Jane built their retirement home on Lake Michigan with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate the tribe. All six grandchildren spent many summers together at "Camp Missimer."
