In Loving Memory of
Roger Alan Calloway
June 8, 1964 - April 18, 2026
Roger Alan Calloway, affectionately known as "Roger Doger" and "Calloway," was born on June 8, 1964, in Muskegon, Michigan, to the late John Andrew Calloway and Barbara Jean Calloway. Roger peacefully departed this life on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Select Specialty Hospital, Blodgett Campus, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Roger received his early education through the Muskegon Public School System. During his senior year, he relocated to Detroit, Michigan, where he lived with his uncle Ben and graduated from Central High School, Class of 1982. A gifted athlete, Roger had a deep love for sports and truly shined on the basketball court. As a Varsity Basketball Center and MVP for the Muskegon High School Big Reds, Roger was known not only for his size and skill but for his versatility, teamwork and according to his teammates, Roger could play any position. Crowds would roar as he moved down the court chanting, "Do it... Do it Roger, do it!"
Following high school, Roger proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge.
Roger was a true people person-everyone he met mattered to him. Though legally blind, Roger never allowed limitations to define him. He recognized people by their voices, greeting each person with warmth and conversation, effortlessly identifying who they were and the role they played in his life. Known throughout the streets of Muskegon, Roger could often be seen walking at leisure, enjoying daily life, visiting family and friends near and far-often unannounced-never losing his sense of direction or adventure.
Family meant everything to Roger. He was most proud when surrounded by loved ones, and his distinctive voice, infectious spirit, and genuine love for people will forever be cherished and deeply missed.
