WEXSTAFF, MR ROBERT D. Grand Haven Mr. Robert D. Wexstaff, age 78, died unexpectedly, Monday, June 14, 2004 at his home. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 24, 1925. He was the son of Edna Wexstaff and his adopted father, Frank, and married the former Clara Sleeman on April 12, 1947. Mr. Wexstaff was in the Navy, and as a member of the ''Greatest Generation'', Robert was a part of the liberation of the Phillipine Islands during WWll. He had been employed as a teacher at Grand Haven Junior High School, for 33 years, until retiring in 1980. His students at school fondly knew him as ''Bulldog''. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, The Grand Haven VFW and past commander of the Fruitport VFW Mr. Wexstaff was also a member of the The American Legion. He enjoyed bowling and had rolled a 300 game at age 64. SURVIVORS Wife of 57 years, Clara; 2 sons, David Dona Wexstaff of Muskegon and Robert Wexstaff of Grand Haven; 3 daughters, Susan Tom Niemi of Allendale, Marilee Robert Wexstaff-Strey of Grand Haven, Jeanne Ronald Rance of Fruitport; 8 grandchildren Jim, Dawn, Ann, Elizabeth, Shawn Marie, Ben, Charlie and Lena; 5 great grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Alec, Gabriella and Justen; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wexstaff was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy and daughter in law, Michelle. SERVICE thursday, June 17, 2004, 11:00 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church, Grand Haven, with the Reverends John Hills and Robert Strey officiating. Interment at Lakeshore Cemetery. VISITATION Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home, Grand Haven. MEMORIAL: St. John's Episcopal Church.
