Robert E. Wellman

Mr. Robert E. Wellman, age 74, passed away early Thursday morning, February 14, 2008 at a local hospital following a short illness. Mr. Wellman was born in Fremont, Michigan on May 21, 1933 to Venson and Esther (Wise) Wellman. On February 6, 1960 he married the former Evelyn A. "Shirley" Rezny, and together they resided in Fruitport for more than 40 years. Shirley preceded him in death on May 2, 2002. Mr. Wellman was a tool and die maker, and retired from the Sam Garvin and Company in Grand Haven, where he was plant manager. Bob was a member of the Fruitport Eagles and the Fruitport Conservation Club. He is survived by: daughter, Dawn M. (Bruce) Dach of North Muskegon; son, Robert E. Wellman, II of Grand Rapids; two grandchildren, Corbyn Dach and Timothy Puflett; brother, George Wellman of Grand Haven; and sister, Betty (Eugene) Johnson of Fruitport. A Memorial Service will be held at: The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 Monday, 7:00 P.M., Pastor Paul S. Urban officiating. The family will begin receiving friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to No More Sidelines will be appreciated.
