Robert W. Nelson

NELSON, MR. ROBERT W. Newaygo, MI Mr. Robert W. Nelson, age 58 passed away early Sunday morning, June 29, 2003. Born July 15, 1944 in Muskegon & formerly of Whitehall, Mr. Nelson lived in Newaygo with his wife Sheryl for the past 26 years. He was President of Professional Med Team Inc. Pro-Med for the past 15 years & was a former emergency medical technician EMT instructor for Muskegon Community College. Mr. Nelson was also Director of Business Development at Mercy Hospital & was one of the state's first licensed Physician's Assistant. He had also served as Chairman of the Cooperating Hospital Advisory Committee which oversees & coordinates Muskegon area emergency services as well as having served on the Muskegon County Medical Control Authority. He was a member & past president of the Michigan Association of Ambulance Services & was instrumental in the establishment of emergency medical services in the Dominican Republic. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Nelson was a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation & a millenium member of the NRA. SURVIVORS Wife, Sheryl; 2 daughters, Alina Scott Wildfong of Holton, MI & Marcie Jeff Momber of Sparta, MI; 1 grandson, Sebastian Alexander Wildfong of Holton, MI; his mother, Vivian J. Nelson of Whitehall, MI; 2 sisters, Gwen W. Nelson & Beau of Whitehall, MI & Joette Rex Converse of Montague, MI; 5 nieces; 1 nephew & his half- sister, Mary Beth Schaub & his half-brother, Bill Nelson, both of Muskegon, MI. Special thanks to extended family member, Rob George. He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Nelson in 1990.
