Mr. Robert 'Joe' VanLeuven, age 82, died Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Seminole Shores Living Center after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born in Detroit, MI on April 17, 1931 to Joseph & Olive VanLeuven and was a graduate of Wayne State University and University of Michigan Law School. Joe served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and then moved to Muskegon where he practiced Law for 43 years. Mr. VanLeuven was well known and respected throughout Michigan as a trial lawyer. He was inducted as a Fellow into the nationally prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers. Joe will be greatly missed by his many bridge friends, Florida friends, Muskegon friends , but especially his family. His family wishes to thank the Staff at Seminole Shores for their wonderful care. May Joe's legacy of being a hard working, generous, kind and loving man live on through his family. SURVIVORS Wife, Merri Lee; children, Joe (Denise) VanLeuven of Oregon, Douglas (Cathy) VanLeuven of Wisconsin, Julie VanLeuven of North Carolina; stepdaughters, Dacia (Scott) LeRoux of Twin Lake, Shawn Taylor of Muskegon, Lindsay (Trevor) Jiricek of Colorado; sister, Sue Maness of Mt. Pleasant, sister-in-law, Darleen (Steve) Dangel of Norton Shores; 17 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and faithful canine pal, Henry. CELEBRATION OF LIFE Friday, October 25, 2013, 3:00-6:00 PM with a time of sharing at 4:30 PM at the Muskegon Country Club.
