Robert Sluyter, age 71, passed away at home on Saturday, February 7, 2015. He was born in Muskegon, MI on September 13, 1943 to Gert & Clara (Goodrich) Sluyter and married the former Glenda Wimpee on July 22, 1967. Robert was a collector of antique tractors & old engines with a passion for hunting & fishing throughout his life. Besides his love for the outdoors, he was actively involved as a member of the West Michigan Old Engine Club. A handy man who could fix just about anything, Bob was a true & devoted friend who was always willing to assist or lend a hand whenever called upon. He was especially proud of his homemade peanut brittle & was always willing to share his specialty treat with whoever he came into contact with. Bob enriched so many lives with his wit & zest for life & he will be thoroughly missed by all who knew him. SURVIVORS Wife of 47 years Glenda; sons, Robert (Rebecca) Sluyter, Tim (Christine) Sluyter; grandson Logan Sluyter; step grandson, Tommy; step granddaughters, Lacey Marvin, Alicia Marvin; three step great grand children; brothers, Bert (Barb) Sluyter, Richard (Susan) Sluyter, Michael Sluyter; sister Donna (James) Dibble; brother in-law and sister in-law Ed & Carol Wimpee and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd, Larry; sisters, Sharon Eddy, Barbara Hedgecock. SERVICE A Celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, 2:00 pm at Clock Chapel - Muskegon with Barry Wood officiating. Interment in Laketon Township.
