Robert Slager Sr.

Mr. Robert Slager Sr., age 91, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on September 16, 1925 to Peter & Mabel (Caswell) Slager and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II in the Atlantic Ocean, convoy duty and then the Pacific Ocean. He married the former Elaine Nuismer on August 28, 1946 and put himself through college, receiving his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Michigan. Mr. Slager had been employed as a Controller and Financial Manager for American Standard until retiring in 1987. Robert had a wonderful sense of humor. He was an avid Tiger's Fan and enjoyed reading, classical music, wintering in Florida and traveling all over the world. SURVIVORS Son, Robert Slager Jr., his fiance, Sherri Degraff and family of IL; companion, Hazel Whittaker and family; brother, Tom (Maria) Slager of Edwardsburg MI; many nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine in 2000 and his parents. CELEBRATION OF LIFE Saturday, June 17, 2017, 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at the Clock Funeral Home - Muskegon.
