Robert Harry Page, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather (age 93) passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024. He was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on July 20, 1930 to Cecil & Marvel (McLain) Page and graduated from Marion High School where he was the football team quarterback, as well as lettering in basketball, track and playing summer baseball.
He received a football scholarship and attended Cornell College in Iowa where he met Mary Ann Petrie. They married on June 13, 1953.
After graduating with a degree in teaching, Bob taught for three years in Iowa then moved to California where he obtained his master's degree in education from UCLA.
In 1956, he and Mary Ann moved to Muskegon, Michigan where they started their family and Bob began a lengthy career in the Muskegon Public School system as a teacher and coach at Nelson School then moving up to principal at Nims and Angell Schools. Bob finished his career as the Financial Administrator for the school district, retiring in 1990.
Bob was a long-time member of the Vikings, Muskegon Elks and the First Presbyterian Church. He and Mary Ann enjoyed playing golf, bowling and traveling the US and Europe.
Bob above all else was a volunteer extraordinaire. If there was a community event Bob was there helping out, usually with Mary Ann by his side. The long list of volunteer activities includes but are not limited to usher and board member of Frauenthal Theater, courier at Hackley Hospital, United Way chairperson, Westshore Youth Symphony treasurer, YMCA budget committee and the Big Red Foundation. His smiling face and leadership will be missed at numerous festivals and events.
Survivors:
Bob is survived by Wife, Mary Ann; Son, Scott (Barbara) Page of Caledonia; daughter, Nancy (Joseph) Lydon of Lake Worth, FL; granddaughter, Christen (Zach) Lipschutz of Grand Rapids; great-grandchildren, Micah, Wyatt, Charlotte, Bernadette and Victoria; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grand son Matthew Page and his brother Bill Page.
