Robert Lockwood Mixer D.D.S., age 88, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023. He was born in Dallas, TX on May 16, 1934 to Robert Anderson & Loa Kathryn (Lockwood) Mixer.

Robert graduated from Muskegon High School in 1952. On June 4, 2005, the Muskegon Big Reds 1951 State Champion football team (of which he was #5) was inducted into the Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame. He then went on to Muskegon Community College, and the University of Michigan where he earned his degree in Dentistry in 1958. He entered into dental practice with his father, Dr Bob, his uncle, Dr Jack, and he became 'Dr Robert'. He practiced in Muskegon for over 52 years until retiring a few weeks before his 77th birthday in Feb. 2011. He married the former Susan Eckerman Paquette on June 14, 1980. Bob was a very active member of the First Congregational Church: serving as an usher; as President of the church in 1974/75 and he and Sue served on the Governing Board from July 1980 to June 1983.

He was for many years a member of the evening Y's Mens Club, and The Michigan Dental Assoc. He was a Life Member of the U of M Alumni Assoc., The Muskegon District Dental Society, and the American Dental Assoc. In 2008 at his 50th dental class reunion, he and his classmates, in a private ceremony with the Dean of the U of M School of Dentistry, were awarded the respected title of "Emeritus".

Bob enjoyed photography, mowing the grass and using his snowblower. For many years he went to Switzerland and went skiing in the Alps. He and Sue loved hiking in the Smokey Mountains, Glacier National Park and along the Appalachian Trail; SCUBA diving and snorkeling in the Bahamas; they traveled by Steamboat up the Mississippi and Columbia Rivers; they took numerous cruises and trips traveling all over the world including places like Africa, Spain, the Hawaiian Islands, the Mediterranean and many more. But most of all they loved the potlucks, and the Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings with family.
