Robert Louis Kramer, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025 at the Inn at Freedom Village in Holland, Michigan. Robert was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Born in Muskegon, Michigan, on October 23, 1937, to Louis and Frances (Teunis) Kramer. Bob grew up on the family farm, where he learned the value of hard work. He later joined his father in building homes, a skill and a legacy that touched many lives. Bob proudly served in the United States Army. On December 17, 1960, he married Ruth Ann Clock, beginning a lifetime of love and cherished memories.
Bob was a dedicated member of Berean Church, now Anchor Point Bible Church, serving faithfully on the council and joyfully lending his voice to the choir. His commitment to community was evident in his years of public service. He served as Mayor of Roosevelt Park and later as City Manager, where his steady leadership left a lasting impact on the city he loved. Bob went on to become a partner at Aspen Enterprises Ltd., working there until his retirement.
Bob and Ruth enjoyed spending winters in Ft. Myers, Florida, golfing together at Olde Hickory. He was an avid trap, skeet, and sporting clay shooter, pursuing the sport with enthusiasm and skill. He also enjoyed his 5 o'clock happy hours, often with a glass of Crown Royal Apple in hand.
Even as Alzheimer's began to take his memory, Bob's love never faded. He adored Ruth with his whole heart, loved his children unconditionally, and found his greatest joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with family and friends, and he will be remembered for his devotion, warmth, and sense of humor. Bob was always quite the charmer, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Inn at Freedom Village for their compassionate care over the past year, and sincere thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their support.
Bob is survived by his wife, Ruth Kramer; children, Scott (Madonna) Kramer and Elizabeth (Jerry) Powell; grandchildren, Daniel (Rachel) Kramer, Steven (Kate) Kramer, Thomas (Sophie) Kramer, Andrea Powell, and Allison Powell; great-grandchildren, Loralai and Franklin Kramer; and sister, Betty Dushane and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Frances Kramer, and his brother, Gerald Kramer.
