Mr. Robert Hussey, age 93, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024. He was born in Gay, GA on December 17, 1931 to Willie & Alice (Burks) Hussey and served his country in the US Army stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was employed at Eagle Ottawa Leather for 38 years as a foreman and union steward until retiring. Robert was a member of Zion Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed playing pool, playing spades, hunting, fishing and once caught a 23 lb. catfish on White Lake which earned him a photo on the front page of the Muskegon Chronicle. In his earlier years he coached little league baseball with Les Hillard and one year they won the championship. He was also a Cub Scout volunteer. But above all he loved spending time with his family.

SURVIVORS

He is survived by his children, Dennis (Donna) Hussey, Vanwayne Hussey, Bernard Hussey, Barbara (Daniel) Edwards, Jeanette Evans, Robyn Smith; 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law James Marshall Stevens. Robert was preceded in death by a daughter Verenda Williams; great grand-daughter Alexis Martin; sisters Cornelia, Alice Pearl; brothers John, Rev Moses Hussey; former spouse Betty Jane Watts.
