Robert George "Bob" France

Robert "Bob" George France, age 87, of Nunica, passed away suddenly on November 14, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Norma (Tysman); sons, Robin and Gary; grandson, Caleb; and 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his sons Jerry (Janine) of Grand Haven, Steve (Cheri) of Grand Rapids, Dan (Nina) of Spring Lake, and Scott (Carol) of Grand Rapids; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Deb; sisters-in-law Pat France of Oregon, Nancy Tysman of Grand Haven, and Mary Wilson of N. Carolina; many nieces & nephews, cousins; his scouting family; and wonderful neighbor, Tom Kamp. Bob was born in Nunica, MI on September 23, 1928 to William & Ella (Miller) France and married Norma on October 30, 1952. Bob lived his entire life in Nunica, and he & Norma raised their 5 sons there. Bob made his living as a Remodeling Specialist and continued to help others with repairs well after retirement. His vast knowledge in many different subjects will be greatly missed. Bob was a member of Grace Assembly of God in Fruitport, the Fruitport Lions Club for over 30 years, and was involved with the Boy Scout of America for over 50 years with 38 of them being a Scoutmaster. Bobs love of scouting led him to establish the France Scout Museum in 1980 with his son, Scott. In honor of Bobs two loves in life & death, his wife & scouting, his wishes were, in lieu of flowers, for contributions be made to the Boy Scouts of America and Susan G. Komen Michigan. Visitation for the family will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Grace Assembly of God (Fruitport) and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 11am with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church with Rev. Casey Arnouts officiating, and interment in Spring Lake Cemetery at 2 pm.
