Robert Claeys

Mr. Robert J. Claeys, age 85, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at home with his loving wife of 56 years and family. He was born in Frederick, South Dakota on July 5, 1931 to Cyriel & Rosa (Cornell) Claeys and served his country for 20 years in the US Air Force. He married the former Mary McManus on April 23, 1960 in California. Mr. Claeys had been employed as a audio-visual technician for 20 years at Grand Haven Public Schools until retiring. Robert was a member and usher of St. Patrick's Catholic Church for many years. He enjoyed farming, yard work, vacations and family time, cruises and his grandchildren. SURVIVORS Wife, Mary; children, Al (Connie) Claeys, Dr. Darrell (Alla) Claeys; grandchildren, Jason Claeys, Jake Claeys, Hannah Claeys, Stephanie Houghton, Vica Claeys; siblings, Betty (Vic) Tabbert, Elmer (Jean) Claeys, Don (Ruth) Claeys, Ron (Cyndi) Claeys, Arnie (Kris) Claeys, Caroline (Steve) Masat; step mother, Mary D. Claeys; sisters-in-law, Sheila (Ron) Turner, Carmel (Frank) Hartery, Kay (Bob) Wood, Sharon McManus & Gerard, Christine McManus many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. SERVICE Thursday, August 11, 2016, 11:00 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Schwartz & Fr. William Langlois officiating and Military Honors under the Auspices of the American Legion of Grand Haven. Interment in Lakeshore Cemetery. VISITATION Wednesday, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Clock Funeral Home-Grand Haven and Thursday, one hour prior to the service at the church. MEMORIAL: American Cancer Society or St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
