Bergman Jr. Robert Bob Grand Haven Robert Bob Paul Bergman Jr., 83, died Monday, June 27, 2005 following a short illness. He was born Sept. 23, 1921 in Chicago, IL, the youngest of seven children born to Robert and Frieda Dryer Bergman Sr. Following graduation from Harper Creek High School, in Chicago, Bob enlisted in the US Navy and served in World War II as an armed guard on merchant marine ships in the Asiatic Pacific and the American Area. On liberty he traveled extensively. He achieved the rank of coxswain and was awarded the victory and good conduct medals. He moved to Grand Haven in 1953. Bob retired from Challenge Stamping and Porcelain in 1983, was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2326 and a member of the North Ottawa Council On Aging. In his retirement, Bob enjoyed mystery novels, jigsaw and word search puzzles, concerts, movies and restaurants, most of all, cards & bingo with his friends at the Senior Center. SURVIVORS Bob is survived by his friend and care giver of 12 years, Sandi Stanton. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Minnie Matlock Bergman; sisters, Marie, Jeanette and Francis; brothers, Daniel, Raymond and Walter. VISITATION Thursday, June 30, 2005, 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00PM at Clock Funeral Home. A private grave side service will be held at Spring Lake Cemetery.
