Robert William Bassett, age 87, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, after making a tremendous comeback from his recent hospitalization. He was born in Muskegon, MI on October 10,1936 to Harold & Joan (Olsen) Bassett, Bob graduated from Muskegon High School in 1954 and served his country in the US Marine Corp Reserves. He married Bonnie (Munroe) September 05, 1958. Robert retired as owner of Bassett's Heating and Cooling for 30 plus years. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing- especially in the Annual Munroe Family Golf Outing/Reunion. Bob & Bonnie spent many enjoyable years with friends and family at the (family) cabin in Trout Lake, (U.P.) Bob was well-known for his "Stories" and jokes always intended to brighten someone's day. Many of which were retold to his favorite audiences at the Don Rae VFW Post and at breakfast with close friend "Coach" at the Sports Page in North Muskegon. Bob was also the last of the Social Members at the Don Rae Post.

SURVIVORS

Wife, Bonnie; children, Mike (Gina) Bassett of Ohio, Michele (Bill) Groethe of Trout Lake, Steve (Marianne) Bassett of Muskegon; grandchildren, Jessica (Owen) Chase, Jarrett Bassett, Cole Bassett; great-grandchildren, Marina & Brennan, as well as pets Cookie & Sparky Harwell, and six grand dogs. A special thank you to loyal friend, Dave Cook "Coach" always there to lend a hand, and his other "family" at the Sports Page & Vets Club and favorite daughter Kris. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jim.
