Richard James Wierda, age 92, of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2026, at Heartwood Lodge.
Born and raised in Muskegon, Richard was known for his strength, resilience, and devotion to his family. A quiet, practical man who could "fix anything," he faced health challenges in his later years with quiet fortitude. He graduated from Muskegon High School and had served in the Naval Reserves in his early years. On April 7, 1956, he married Edythe Zorn, beginning a marriage of more than 70 years.
Richard worked for over 40 years in industrial supply with Lakeshore Machinery/Grainger.
Richard was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. His quiet service and dependable presence reflected the way he lived: faithfully, humbly, and with care for those around him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Edythe; his children, Kevin (Shelley) Wierda, Joan (Robert) Bengston, and Karl Wierda; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Alice Wierda; his sister, Janice Pomeroy; and his daughter-in-law, Luann Wierda.
A private family service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, with interment at Restlawn Cemetery. Please visit www.clockfuneralhome.com to sign the guestbook or leave a memory.
