Richard "Dick" Vanderlaan, age 92, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024. He was born on January 14, 1932 in Muskegon, MI, the second of two sons born to Sam and Esther Vanderlaan. He married the love of his life, Alice (Haverkate) Vanderlaan, on October 13, 1956. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. After graduating from Michigan State University, Dick began his career in sales with Shaw-Walker Furniture Company in Muskegon. Shortly after, he moved on to enjoy a 30-year career as a State Farm Agent before he and Alice retired to Sebring, Florida. Dick's pride and joy were his family and friends and his beloved MSU Spartans. Time spent together will forever be remembered and cherished.

Dick is survived by his sons, Thomas (Tammy) Vanderlaan; Daniel (Laurel) Vanderlaan; and Jack Vanderlaan; grandchildren, Tara (Ryan) Beishuizen, Todd (Erica) Vanderlaan, Sierra (Sandlar) Packard, Joshua (Amy) Vanderlaan, and Tayler (Trenton) Overholt; 5 great grandchildren with another due in May; and his sister-in-law, Carol Tikala of Sarasota, FL. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice and his grandson, Zachary Waldron.

Arrangements for a small, private service for the family and close friends will be coordinated by Clock Funeral Home in Muskegon, Michigan.
