Richard H. McNitt age 91, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2007 in a Muskegon Nursing Home. Born in Bangor, Michigan to the late Claude and Gertrude (Groeneveld) McNitt. Richard was one of seven children. He was a life-long farmer who also worked as a small engine repairman for several Conklin and Muskegon businesses. He was a past-member of The Grange and the Odd-Fellows. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, mushrooming and camping with the whole family. He is survived in love by his wife of 65 years, Eveleen; 3 children: Lucy and Larry Filius of Muskegon, Judy and Lonny Snow of Perry, MI and Jim (Kris) McNitt of Conklin. A daughter-in-law, Cecilia (Simon) Omlor of Ravenna; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. 1 Brother: Claude and Ruth McNitt Jr. and 1 sister: Floretta and Leon Sheridan and many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by 1 son: Alan. The family warmly thanks and appreciates the Staff and care-givers at Brook- haven. The family will receive friends at the Throop Funeral Home on Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00pm and again on Friday, October 12, from 10am until the time of service. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 11:00am at the First Reformed Church of Ravenna with Rev. Kevin Schutt officiating. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be directed to Harbor Hospice or the Parkinson's Association.
