Mr. Richard Charles Ford, age 86, died Monday, November 14, 2011. He was born in Janesville, WI on November 9, 1925, the third and youngest child of Bruce Henry & Bernice Margaret (Smith) Ford. His father's parents were from Michigan while his mother's parents were originally from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. He served in the US Air Force from January 1944-April 1946, including several months in occupied Japan. Mr. Ford received his BA in History/Medieval Studies from the University of Illinois and his Masters Degree from Columbia University in English History. He had been a Professor at Cheshire Academy in Connecticut, Green Mountain College in Vermont, Canaan College in New Hampshire and his last 30 years at Muskegon Community College all the while running his call-in radio program. He was a joy and a challenge to many grand nieces and nephews. all of whom always enjoyed lively debates with their uncle every time they saw him. SURVIVORS Richard had no children. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Jean Conway Ford; nephews, Bruce Henry Ford III of WI, Stephen Allan Ford of IL, Mark Patrick Ford of IL, and Raymond Glenn Ford of OR; his nieces, Carole Ford Shepherd of CA, Connie Ford Pacheco of IL; and his friend, John Hills of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Bruce Henry Ford Jr. of IL and Robert George Ford of CA; and by his partner, John Robert Welsh.
