Reverend Alexander Urcavich

Reverend Alexander Urcavich, age 88, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Grace, a son Michael, in 1944, and by two daughter's Linda in 1947 and Janice in 1960. Alex is survived by five children, Judy (Jerry) Price of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Joseph (Arlis) of Green Bay, WI, Greg (Sherri) of Pulaski, WI, Cindy (Gary) Weberg, of Muskegon, and Randall (Laurel) of Green Bay, WI; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a sister in law, Kit Urcavich, of Kent, WA, his good friend, Dave Jennings, along with his Church Family at Faith Bible Church where he had preached his last sermon this past Sunday, November 25, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William (Alberta) Urcavich, Charles (Mary) Urcavich, and Joseph Urcavich. Alex was a veteran of the United States Navy serving under Admiral 'Bull' Halsey during World War II. It was during this time in war that Alex received Christ as his personal Savior and he made a commitment, if God spared his life he would tell others about Christ. Following the war, Alex returned to Muskegon and served on the Church Board at Fellowship Reformed Church. God then called him to Faith Bible Church where he served as Senior Pastor for 40 years. He was involved in several ministries including, the Muskegon Rescue Mission for many years, along with providing service at Brookhaven, and McAuley Place. Alex and his family were members of Christian Home League, an organization for promoting family worship. He retired from Brown & Morris of Muskegon Heights. Funeral services for Alex will be held at the Fellowship Reformed Church, 4200 E. Apple Ave. on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Joe Galy officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be next to his wife Grace at Egelston Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
