Rev. Gary Ronald Barnes, age 72, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on December 15, 1943 to Frank and Dorothy (Allen) Barnes and served his country in the US Army with a tour in Vietnam. He married the former Ardele Phillips on June 23, 1961. Gary had been employed as an over the road truck driver for McLaughlins Magic Fleet after being the Pastor of Newaygo Faith Temple. After his retirement from trucking he continued in the Ministry as an Evangelist and took many mission trips to India, Kenya and Tanzania. Gary was a member of Shiloh Tabernacle and a missionary for New Harvest Ministries International. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of Christian Motorcycle Association. As a minister he preached in many churches across the country including those associated with Anchor Bay Evangelistic Association where he was a member. He also loved spending time with his family, flying, camping, Nascar and helping others. SURVIVORS Wife of 54 years, Ardele children, Gary (Donna) Barnes Jr., Chelly (Tom) Brown, Wendy Barnes, Tansa (Tim) Hastert 10 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren siblings, Bill Barnes, Sandy Wood, Eugene (Marijo) Barnes mother-inlaw, June Phillips and long time partner Papa Jack Courtland brothers & sisters-in-law, Jim (Janet) Phillips, Vicky (Lonnie) James, Tony Phillips, Jeff Phillips, Annette (Bruce) Bettilyon many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents brothers, Dan & Russell 2 half brothers and 2 half sister. SERVICE Saturday, May 21, 2016, 11:00 am at Shiloh Tabernacle Church with Pastor Verne Wright officiating and Military Honors under the Auspices of the Muskegon County Council of Veterans.
