Regina Schulist

Mrs. Regina (Jean) Schulist, age 95, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2008 in Muskegon, MI. Born January 3, 1913 to John L. and Josephine (Szymanski) Foltynewicz in LaSalle, Illinois and moved to Muskegon when she was 16 years old. She married Felix Schulist in 1930, and was a member of St. Michael's Church in Muskegon for over 70 years. Mrs. Schulist was well known for the 100's of quilts she made for Love Inc. and for family and friends. She kept a list of each quilt she made and who received it. She was always available for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and anyone who needed help. Her house was like "Grand Central Station" was always open to everyone, and a meal was served in minutes. She enjoyed the Tigers baseball team, and went to their games well into her 90's. Mrs. Schulist was preceded in death by her loving husband, Felix, her infant daughters, Mary and Carolyn, and her son, Leonard. She is survived by her children, Eleanore (Charles) Hibbard, of Muskegon, Louis (Brigitte) Schulist of Holland, Felix (Barbara) Schulist, of Muskegon Phillis (Mikio) Hiraga of Ann Arbor, Jeannie (Mel) Nielsen, of Grand Haven, the twins, Bobbie Leonard, who was her caretaker at her home in Norton Shores, and Romona (Randy) Traxler of Interlochen, Michigan, her daughter-in-law Beverley Dethloff and her sister, Eva Gruszecki of Collinsville, Illinois. Her survivors also include 25 grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, eight sisters and three brothers. MEMORIAL MASS: Monday February 11, 2008 At 2:00 P.M. at St Michael's Catholic Church. Father Thomas Brown officiating. VISITATION: Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
