Raymonde M. Lara

Mrs. Raymonde M. Lara, age 85, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born November 11, 1922 in France to the late Jules and Germaine (Latzer) Herbert. She met American Army G.I. Amado Lara while he was fighting in Europe during WWII. They married on March 1, 1946 in France and settled in Muskegon where they raised their family and worked side by side for 30 years at the Farmer's Market. Mrs. Lara was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Amado; infant son, Joseph; daughter-in-law, Jeannette Lara; son-in-law, Rick Stanton; great-granddaughter, Shanna; brothers, Jules and Marcel; and sister, Andree. She is survived by her children: Robert, Danny (Nora), Albert (Diane), Anna, and Jackeline (Gary); grandchildren: Lisa, Heather, Jessi, Dan, Troy, Joey, Tonya, Jennifer, Melissa, Michael, Gary, and Adam; many great-grandchildren; sisters: Juliette Jones of South Carolina, and Helene and Jacqueline of France. Funeral services for Mrs. Lara will be Monday, June 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave., with Pastor Ron Amos officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service (1:00 to 2:00 p.m.). Interment is in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
