Raymond David Mjovig

Mr. Raymond David Mjovig, age 69, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 at his sister's home after a six month battle with cancer. He was born in McIntosh, MN on July 30, 1938 at the Olson family farm to Cora Amanda (Olson) and James Lawrence Mjovig. He moved to Muskegon at the age of three and spent his whole life here with the exception of two years in the US Army in Texas. He graduated from Muskegon High School, attended M.C.C., and retired from Sealed Power after working there from 1960 to 1993. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Deloris Smith; nephew, David McCann; and brothers-in-law, Paul Smith and Roger Hutchins. He is survived by his sisters, Jordis Hutchins (Bill Blanchette), Janice Mjovig, and Eloise (John) Cihos, all of North Muskegon; and brother, LeRoy and family of Jackson, MI. He is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews and their families including his goddaughter, Stefanie (Jay) and their children, Maddie, Lou, and Izzy, who were all very special to Raymond. According to his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. The family will appreciate any donations to Hackley V.N.S. Hospice of Muskegon (888 Terrace, Muskegon 49440).
