Raymond J. Maleski age 79, died Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Mercy General Health in Muskegon. Raymond was born on November 28, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Walenty and Helen (Celebucki) Maleski. Raymond served in the United States Army serving as a medic. Raymond married Julia M. Sorensen on July 2, 1949 in Ravenna, Michigan. Ray was a life long member of St. Catherines Catholic Church. He retired from Shaw-Walker after 42 years. Ray and Julia wintered in Texas for the past 16 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, working outside in his garage and cooking on the BBQ. Raymond is survived by his wife of 58 years Julia, his 6 children: Ray and Lori Maleski of Ravenna, Mike and Terry Maleski of North Muskegon, Pat and Jim Wiggers of Twin Lake, Steve Maleski of Ravenna, Mark and Kim Maleski of Zebulon, GA and Elaine and Tony Brueck of Ravenna. 15 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive, also his constant shadow-his cat MiMi. Raymond is preceded in death in addition to his parents by 1 Sister: Gertrude Verschueren, 1 Brother Alex Maleski and Great Grandson Parker Maleski. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 11:00am at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Ravenna with Monsignor John Porter celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Catherines Catholic Cemetery. Members of the Ravenna American Legion will conduct Military Graveside Honors. The family will be present at the Throop Funeral Home of Ravenna on Monday, July 2, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and from 6:00 to 9:00pm to receive friends. The family will also be present on Tuesday at St. Catherines Catholic Church from 10:00am until time of service. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Moorland or Ravenna Fire Departments.
