Mr. Raymond W. King, Sr., age 80, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008 at his home after a brief illness, in the presence of his loving family. Ray was born on August 4, 1927 to Josephine (Sadley) and William King. He served in the US Army during World War II and then went to work for Muskegon Piston Ring from 1947 to 1978, then retiring to pursue his love for fishing. He took many awards when fishing with his sons and was a much respected sportsman. He was a life member of St. Michael Catholic Church where he served as an usher, with the exception of 6 years when he attended St. Michael of Brunswick. Ray was a member of St. Michael's Athletic Association, and was a member of the Polish Union. Ray is survived by his wife of 58 years, Roycine (Rawdon); 3 children, Raymond King, Jr. of Twin Lake, Fred King of Norton Shores and Connie (special son-in-law, Tom) Wall of Fremont; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Florence (Stan) McClure of Walhalla, MI, Pat (Jim) Casper of Grand Rapids and MaryAnn (Lloyd) Teerman of Grandville; long-time friend, Eugene "Red" Cole; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends: all who will miss him very much. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11AM Saturday, April 19, 2008 at St. Michael Catholic Church (1716 6th St., Muskegon) with Rev. Fr. Michael Alber and Rev. Fr. Thomas Brown presiding. FULL MILITARY RITES will be afforded under the auspices of VFW Muskegon County Council. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIALS in Ray's name may be made to Fremont Area Foundation directed to the Continued Care Fund of Gerber Memorial Hospital. Ray's family wishes to express their thanks to Continued Care of Gerber Memorial Hospital and their nurses, especially Deb; Heartland Hospice, especially their nurses, Chris and Marie; and to Dr. Ramdoni and Gerber Memorial Hospital and staff for all their wonderful care.
