BATTEN, MR. RAY H. Norton Shores Mr. Ray H. Batten, age 80, died Friday, July 29, 2005 in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon, MI on October 8, 1924 to Henry and Cornelia Balkema Batten and married Beverly Ortquist on September 6, 1946. He served his country in the US Navy in WWII. Mr. Batten had been an inspector at Anaconda Wire and Cable for 40 years until retiring in 1981. He was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church; the DAV Post 103 and the American Legion Merritt Lamb Post; for over 50 years he was a member and 2 time Chief of Viking Linne Lodge # 57. SURVIVORS Wife of 58 years, Beverly; daughter, Dianne Edward Taylor of Fruitport, MI; son in law, Ken Kay Mack of Paris, MI; 4 grandchildren Steve Tammy Mack, Stacy David Walston, Eric Taylor and Shelby Mack; 7 great grandchildren; 3 sisters in law, Lois Willard Thoma, Norma Dennis Suchecki and Marva Ortquist; special friends, Sam & Ione Keur; many nieces & nephews. Mr. Batten was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Mack in 1983 and by 2 brothers and 4 sisters. SERVICE Wednesday, August 3, 2005, 11:00 AM at Clock Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis Glick officiating. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION Tuesday, 7-9 PM and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at Clock Funeral Home. MEMORIALS: Samuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or Viking Scholarship Fund. Clock - Muskegon
