Randy Lee Hoffmeyer

December 1, 1952 - October 15, 2026

Randy Lee Hoffmeyer, age 73, of Muskegon, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and under the compassionate care of Harbor Hospice.

Randy was born on December 1, 1952, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Arnold and Eleanor (Gue) Hoffmeyer. Following his parents' divorce, he was lovingly raised by his mother and from the age of 9 by his father and his stepmother, Mary (Olson) Hoffmeyer, with whom he shared a deep, cherished lifelong bond. After graduating from Mona Shores High School, Randy answered the call of duty when he was drafted into the United States Army, proudly serving his country stateside from 1972 to 1974, during which time he also earned his associates degree. Following his military discharge, Randy embarked on a dedicated 34-year career at Sealed Power (later SPX), working in the foundry from 1974 until his retirement in 2008. A tireless advocate for his fellow workers, he served as a UAW union contract negotiator.

A man of deep Christian faith, Randy served for many years as an elder at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Spring Lake. He was also an active member of the Muskegon Eagles lodge. Randy had an enduring passion for sports, spanning from early days cheering on the Muskegon Mohawks and Zephyrs hockey teams to faithfully following the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers, Lions, and the University of Michigan Wolverines. In his earlier years, Randy loved deer hunting at the family property in Evart and taking road trips across the country. Above all, Randy was a devoted family man who loved camping across Michigan state parks, Silver Lake dune rides, and never missing a sporting event, dance recital, or milestone for his grandchildren, who were the true light of his life.

Randy is survived by his four children: Jill (Robert) Hill, Robbie (Tressa) Hoffmeyer, Christopher Hoffmeyer, and Kimberly Hoffmeyer; his eight cherished grandchildren: Kaela Hill, Kaidyn Hill, Kahlan Hill, Zander Hoffmeyer, Lynae Smith, Dominic Hoffmeyer, Jaylynne Smith, and Blayne Smith; his brothers: Tom "Dewey" Hoffmeyer, Rick (Alice) Hoffmeyer, Daryl "Jess" (Valerie) Hoffmeyer, Terry (Nancy) Hoffmeyer, David (Kristina) Hoffmeyer, Tony Hoffmeyer, and Dan (Amanda) Hoffmeyer; his sister, Penny (Benji) Perez; beloved significant other of 19 years, Kathy Boomer; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Eleanor Hoffmeyer, and his beloved stepmother, Mary Hoffmeyer.

A memorial service celebrating Randy's life and faith will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Spring Lake, Michigan, on Saturday, October 24,2026 at 12:00 Noon, with Pastor Michael Hughes officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am at the church. Military honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army and a fellowship luncheon at the church will follow.
