Ralph J. Luce

Mr. Ralph J. Luce, age 81, died Tuesday evening, August 12, 2008. He was born December 5, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MI to Russell "Clair" and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Miller) Luce and had resided in the Muskegon area since 1941. Mr. Luce was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the VFW Derezinski Post #7729. He worked for Cooper Industries for over 28 years before retiring in 1982. On April 25, 1953 he married the former Lucille M. Eldred in Indiana and she preceded him in death on April 29, 1993. SURVIVORS include a son, Rodney (Linda) Luce of Cadillac, MI; 2 daughters, Deborah (Dale) Connell, Sherry Luce-Hannum both of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, Scott and Sonya Humy, Russ Luce and Laura (Tim) Ropposch; brother, Lawrence Luce of Muskegon; and a special companion, Loretta VanderWerf. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Friday at The Sytsema Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with Pastor Larry Terlouw officiating and Military Rites under the auspices of the VFW Derezinski Post #7729. Burial will be in Chase Twp. Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-9 PM this evening. MEMORIALS to Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
