Mrs. Phyllis Ann (Tuttle) Hoekenga, age 93, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016. She was born June 23, 1922 in Woodstock, Illinois, daughter of the late Kenneth and Althea Jane (McLaughlin) Tuttle. Phyllis attended North Illinois State University, and served in the U.S. Womens Army Corps in New Guinea Philippines. She married Robert G. Hoekenga on May 11, 1946 in Woodstock. He preceded her in death in 1992. She is a longtime member of Covenant Community Church where she sang in the choir and served as Sunday school teacher, guild president, tutor and Hygiene Pantry volunteer. She also served as a hospice volunteer and Fruitport Elementary school classroom-reading volunteer. SURVIVORS She is survived by five children, Robin (Ron) Kadelsik, Roger (JoAnne) Hoekenga, Susan (Edward Gergosian) Hoekenga, Dawn Hoekenga and Richard (Kelly) Hoekenga. She is also survived by a sister, Sara Walkington of Woodstock, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Libby and daughter-in-law, Lora (Bartz) Hoekenga. CELEBRATION OF LIFE Friday, February 5, 2016, 1:00 pm at Covenant Community Church, 134 E. Barney, Muskegon with Rev. Mark Bush officiating. VISITATION Thursday, February 4, 2016, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Clock Funeral Home - Muskegon. MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Community Church or Harbor Hospice.
