Patricia Ann Straley. December 7, 1950 - November 10, 2023. Patricia was born in Muskegon to Daniel and Phyllis Straley (Kaber). She was a lifelong resident of Muskegon County. She attended Steele Junior High School, Muskegon High School and Muskegon Community College. Patricia earned her education degree at Western Michigan University and special education degree at Grand Valley State University. She was employed by Holton Public Schools and Tri Valley Academy. Many students and colleagues will best remember her as a passionate and caring educator during her years as a substitute teacher in Muskegon Public Schools. During the summer months she worked for the Muskegon Parks and Recreation Department and Duck Lake State Park. Patricia was an accomplished seamstress founding the Sew Hut sewing center with her mother. She was an avid gardener and craftsperson who enjoyed decorating her yard with flowers and crafts: Every holiday or change of season would bring a new set of decorations to her household. She was an avid genealogist who enjoyed tracing her family origins. In her latter years one of her favorite pastimes was riding with her brother Mike in his Jeep to visit friends and family. Patricia will be remembered as a compassionate soul who was always on hand to help friends and support family.

SURVIVORS

She is survived by her boyfriend Tom Froster and her step children Zachary and Analysha Froster, son Gary Bartz, sister Sharon Sikkenga (Paul), brothers William Straley (Kim), David Straley (Darlene), and Ed Straley (Debra). She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Christine Straley (Doane), and brothers Mike and Fred.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

A memorial has been planned for January 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Celebration Community Church, 1260 W. Sherman Blvd, with a luncheon to follow, Pastor Matt Eenigenburg officiating.
