Patricia Smith

Mrs. Patricia A. Smith, age 78, of Muskegon passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 28, 2007, at a local hospital. She was born August 7, 1928, in Muskegon to Harry and Dorothy (Tinker) Purdy, and lived in the Muskegon area all her life. Patricia's first job was working with her mother at the Hostess Restaurant. She was employed at Brunswick for 15 years. Patricia continued her career at Teledyne as an executive secretary, and retired after 23 years of service. After retirement she worked for Wal-Mart in Fremont for seven years. Throughout her life, Patricia was actively involved with her family. She also enjoyed friends, traveling, and volunteering. On May 23, 1974, she married Herbert Smith in Muskegon and he survives her along with her 5 children: Robin Chase, Laurie Kellogg, Cheryl Ackley (Matt Workman), Peter (Beth) Ackley, and Mary (Kevin) Chauvez; 5 step-children: Carol (Gary) Jolman, Sandy (Dave) Hutson, Doug (Paula) Smith, Duane (Karen) Smith, and Janet DeMarr. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service for Patricia will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 2, 2007, at VFW Post 8846 (1061 Witham Rd, North Muskegon) with Pastor Robert Lynch officiating. Please join us for the luncheon following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in honor of Patricia to the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 8846 or to the Patricia Smith family.
