Patsy Green loved fishing, bowling, golfing, and entertaining. What she loved most of all, however, and what gave her the greatest joy in life, was her beloved family. Patsy dedicated her life to caring for her family, and she was lucky enough to live out her days surrounded by those she loved best in the world. Patricia Ellen was born on February 14, 1943, to proud parents Lorin and Ida (Jewell) Lindsey. She was the first-born, soon to be followed by younger siblings Lori and Chuck. The Lindsey family lived in the Bluffton neighborhood of Muskegon, Michigan, where Lorin earned a living working at the paper mill. Their home was quite close to Lake Michigan, and Patsy would spend most of the summer on the beach, often watching her younger siblings. When the time came to go to school, Patsy attended Bluffton School, Bunker School, and finally Muskegon High School. After graduating from high school, Patsy found a job at Winicki TV. She started dating a young man named Al Green he had recently returned to Muskegon after serving in the military, and they had mutual friends. Patsy and Al soon fell in love, and were married on December 1, 1962, at the Lakeside Methodist Church. Patsy and Al settled down in the Lakeside area of Muskegon. Their first child, Susan, was born in 1963, but sadly only lived for three days. In the following years, Patsy and Al were blessed with three more children: Stephen in 1964, Teresa in 1969, and Patrick in 1974. Al had told Patsy she didnt have to go back to work until the kids were out of school, and he liked to joke that Patsy purposely spaced each child five years apart to give herself a little more time at home! Patsy did love being a stay-at-home mom, and she took wonderful care of her children. She was also a great cook and baker, and was famous for her Christmas cookies and snowballs. In the late 1970s, the family moved to Frankfort, Michigan. Patsy had a lot of family in the area, and Al planned to start a business there. They built a house for themselves, but Als new job didnt work out as planned. As a result, Al commuted to the paper mill in Muskegon for five years while Patsy and the kids lived in Frankfort. After the children had all graduated from high school, Patsy and Al moved back to Muskegon. It was finally time for Patsy to re-enter the working world, and she found a job at the deli department at K-mart. She then went on to the deli department at Meijers, where she was a loyal employee for fourteen years. In her free time, Patsy loved golfing and bowling, and participated in several leagues. In the summers, she enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan with Al in their 26-foot boat. Patsy and Al had a good group of friends they called the Friday Night Friends, since the group got together nearly every Friday night for dinner and a good time. They were also longtime members of the Vikings. After retirement, Patsy and Al decided to buy a home down South. They settled on Palmetto, Florida, where several of their friends already had places. They spent the harsh Michigan winters down in Florida, and eventually spending 8 months of the year in Palmetto. For the remaining 4 months, they lived in a trailer at Elks Park campground on Lake Michigan. Around this time, Patsy also became a proud grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandkids, and always looked forward to holidays. She was an accomplished hostess, and hosted family dinners during the holidays and big dinner parties for friends in Florida. In recent years, Patsy began to notice some health issues and memory problems. Eventually, she was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease). Al took care of Patsy as best he could, and their son Steve built stairs for their trailer at Elk Parks so she could remain in her own home as long as possible. As time went by, the disease progressed, and Patsy and Al moved to an apartment, where Patsy could get around more easily. Caring, hard-working, and kind-hearted, Patsy was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her many friends and family members. Patricia (Patsy) Ellen Green died on October 2, 2012, at the age of 69. Her family includes her husband of 49 years, Alfred; her sons, Stephen (Lila) Green of Muskegon, and Patrick Green of FL; her daughter, Teresa Freese of West Olive; her grandchildren, Rachel & Nicole; her great-grandson, Hunter; her sister, Lori Lindsey of Grand Rapids; her brother, Chuck Lindsey of FL; her special friend, Jean Schulz; and her Friday Night Friends.
