Paige, Lewis Sr.

Mr. Lewis Paige Sr., age 84, passed away Thurs. Feb. 1, 2007 after a long illness. He was born January 1, 1923 in Edwards, MS to Nelse and Ardell (Russell) Paige. Lewis received his education from Southern Christian Institute in Edwards, MS, serving in World War II/Korean Conflict. Lewis married the late Juanita Williams-Paige in 1946. He moved to Muskegon, Michigan in 1951 where he worked diligently for Muskegon Township as a master mechanic. He was a man of many talents and enjoyed being with his family and friends. Lewis was a Member of Corinthians Baptist Church. He was also a member of the VFW Post 9388. Lewis is survived by 5 daughters, Carrie (Richard) Haver, Gwendolyn (Willie) Butts-Petty, Mettazzee Paige, Pharquiette (Louis) Churchwell and Nikki Paige; 4 sons, Edwin Kenneth Reed, Lewis Paige Jr., Richard (Christina) Paige, Sr. & John Paige-Griggs; 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a godson, Steve Simon; 3 brothers, Arthur (Fannie) Paige, Leonard (Carrie) Paige and Jessie Willie (Gladys) Paige, sister-in-law, Betty Paige. He was preceded in death by both parents, wife Juanita Paige, daughters, Sharon Calvert, Rachel Paige, grand-daughters, Chiquita Murray-Paige, Shanna Calvert; great-grand, Tiara Wade and 2nd wife, Diane Griggs-Paige; sisters, Bernice and Ethel Steele; one brother, Harry Paige. Lewis will lie in state for viewing Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Corinithians Baptist Church from 4-8 and 6-7 pm family hour. Funeral services will be held February 7, 2007 at 12:00 noon, at Corinthians Baptist Church, 2027 Peck St., Muskegon, MI Pastor Khi Guy, Eulogy Rev. Clarence Guy Emertius.
