Orrin H. "O.J." Johnston

JOHNSTON, MR. ORRIN H. ''O.J.'' Fruitport Mr. Orrin ''O.J.'' H. Johnston, age 88, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004. He was born in Casnovia, MI on March 20, 1916 to Orley & Virginia Christian Johnston & married the former Alice ''Bobbie'' Hittle on September 5, 1936. Mr. Johnston served his country in the U.S. Army in Okinawa during WWII. He had been employed as a mechanic at Midway Service Garage & after that he worked at Ron's Crane & Rigging for 35 years until retiring in 1981.He was a charter member of Fruitport Eagles, life member of AMVETS of Mesick, member of V.F.W. & a former member of Muskegon Moose Lodge. Mr. Johnston enjoyed motorcycle riding, traveling, hunting & fishing but foremost was his family. SURVIVORS 1 daughter, Donna Jim Nestell of Ravenna; 6 grandchildren, Lana Grevengoed, Laura Mark Lamphere Ellis, Scott Margaret Nestell, Suzanne Bruce Houseman, Deanna Ken VanderWal & Jeff Susan Nestell; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 1 sister, E. Helene Bourdo of Muskegon; 3 brothers, Vernon Johnston of Muskegon, Erwin Johnston of Sparta & Owen Lorraine Johnston of Spring Lake; son-in-law, John Buist; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; daughter, Lorna Buist; sister, Jeanette Thompson; brother, Frank. SERVICE Saturday, May 1, 2004, 3:00 PM at the Clock Chapel with Pastor Craig Cramblet officiating. Interment at Fruitport Cemetery. VISITATION Friday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Clock Funeral Home.
